Occupational Wage Survey

Occupational Wage Surveys were conducted on two previous occasions in The Bahamas, in 1987 and in 1994, each time generating very poor responses. It was concluded that the main factor for such low response was the lengthy questionnaire.

In 2003 the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United States Department of Labour (US-DOL) announced The “Caribbean Labour Market Information System” (CLMIS) project. The project’s aim was to provide data on employment and labour market information in the Caribbean. The data would assist policy makers in the development of policies that would be responsive to new challenges both in the region and in the hemisphere. The data could be integrated and used globally while generating reliable, timely and internationally comparable Labour Market Information (LMI), at the national, regional and international levels.
